Tower Hill Botanical Gardens in Boylston, Massachusetts, was a riot of color that fall day.
When I saw the milkweed exploding out of its pods, I was instantly brought back to the childhood joy of opening milkweed pods each autumn to allow the feathery seeds inside to float away.
The crisp air, the delightfully chilly breeze, the feelings of joy and freedom while watching… and sometimes chasing… those same seeds… For me, that’s what this painting is all about.
