Description
I’ve just come through a year of rapid transformation and growth, upending my life along with my husband to relocate to where we’ve always wanted to live, Maine.
The four of us joked all throughout 2025 that “this was the year we would fly the nest.”
Well, we did it! Our sons left home just before we did.
There was so much turmoil and so many unknowns. I was of no fixed address along with my husband for far longer than we had anticipated when we sold our home in Massachusetts. This was a time, it turned out to be weeks, where we did not know if the home we had chosen was going to work out or not for us to move into.
Fortunately the universe provided a place on an amazing Maine lake for us to stay while we navigated through this process. In the end we did manifest this dream home on this dream property, 25 acres with a beautiful post-and-beam home on a dirt road in the heart of Maine.
It’s amazing.
This was the first painting that I made after moving in.
Not surprisingly, it’s of that amazing Maine lake I had the privilege of staying at during all the turbulence.
There were loons, there was a kayak and many stars. One night there was even the northern lights.
On the morning we left – the day this home became ours – I awoke before dawn to this beautiful scene.
I named this painting Stillness for the experience of being there and seeing and feeling the atmosphere on the lake that early morning.
It’s also called Stillness for the feeling it inspires inside myself.
This painting reminds me that stillness begins within, and that nature has many signposts back to it. Even in the most buckwild of times.
