Hiking on a drizzly autumn day in 2023 to the top of a favorite ski hill, Mount Wachusett in Princeton, Massachusetts, I came out of the woods and found myself at the top of the Polar lift, leading to some of my favorite runs as I ski Wachusett in winter.
On the lift platform was an inviting seat, the lift chair just behind the “load here” sign that you see in the painting. Sitting in it was an invitation that I joyfully accepted!
I sat, and ate my lunch, painted and enjoyed a misty – and mystical – experience.
